hubby went to a one room schoolhouse in montrose, pa. he was one of two first graders--the other one was shirley. they still keep touch, all these years later. (he's 70, now) the schoolhouse is still there, as far as i know--one of the "kids" who attended there purchased it when it went for sale, and last time we were out there, it was still standing. lots of memories living in that building--a lot of history. he lived just down the road "a piece", and remembers the walk there, carrying his metal lunch bucket. (later, when he entered the navy, i was in 5th grade, in a suburban school in minnesota--talk about a contrast in life experiences...)
