Default Almazuelas - Block # 1: El molinillo (The grinder)

Good afternoon, ladies! Some members of the Forum were interested in the method of performing Almazuelas. To begin let me explain what Almazuelas = Almazuela is a blanket, clothing or fabric, in general, fashion built with more or less rectangular pieces of other textiles for reuse. It is derived from Arabic or almozala almoçala almozaia, carpet, bed cover. The first documented in the texts of the 17th century, La Rioja (Spain). The equivalent English term for the mosaic, a term used in Spanish-speaking "patchwork". This term, Almazuela, is used today mostly in the Autonomous Community of La Rioja (Spain), where the art is very popular and has many followers. Each block consists of 4 Almazuelas. I learned the technique of a quiltera of Spain. Her name is Bethlehem and has two blogs: (1) Bethlehem Patchwork [/ url] http://belenpatchwork.blogspot.com/ [/ url] (2) Bethlehem and designs [/ url] http://belnysusdiseos.blogspot.com/ [/ url] Today I present the Block # 1. It's called El Molinillo = The Grinder. I leave you a photo tutorial and some phrases. I armed myself with the translator, so I apologize if there are misspellings or grammar. Also put another file PDF: the Grid base. I hope you like, you do it, it would be very happy to see the photos! And a special request: if you do and publish your photo on your website or blog, please indicate which originates from La Rioja (Spain) and links to the author. Hugs to all!
