I just read much the same on a list of tips from The Quilt Show (Alex Anderson, etc.), but they mentioned holding one side of the seam to be ripped under the presser foot of your sewing machine, i.e., the third hand. That would really speed things up. I think I'll look for one of those this weekend.

It would be great for those times when you've added row after row only to discover you got something completely reversed in the process (unfortunately, I've done that more than once).
