I think $1950 is a fair price for the Horizon, but make sure you like the dealer and you'll get the support/lessons you want with the machine. I bought my Horizon new for not much more than that, but that was 6 months ago. I haven't really followed the pricing since, so maybe someone else here will know if that's fair for today. I would also take some thread and fabric in and demo the machine for myself. Make sure you like it before you buy. I don't know about the Brother other than I've always heard they are good machines.
