Can't help you with the decision regarding the Brother...don't know much about them.But...I have a Janome 6600 and it sews well for me. I do have some issues with the way it starts sometimes (like an old lady in the dead of winter who hates cold weather!) but as I said, it sews well once it's on its way. Good luck with your choice.
