ok- i'm not quite following you- if you cut the 2nd strip at 1 1/2" instead of 3/4" why not just cut it in half?
it seems like it would be a problem if you cut the 3/4" when you needed it to be 1 1/2" but you stated you did it the other way- maybe i'm too tired to comprehend the problem.
