I like panels as they provide me with small projects to handquilt. I can then make pillows or placemats, table runners etc. from them. If I want to make it quilt size I just add borders pieced or otherwise until it is big enough. I love the look of applique but only do fusable. The panels I handquilt fool most people into thinking I spent lots of time hand appliqueing.
