There is a book by Judy Sisneros called Rectangles with Pizazz that has simple patterns that showcase big prints or fabrics that are so beautiful that you don't want to cut them up. Get a look at that and I think you'll find what you are looking for.
This is a great possibility since you don't want to cut up the lovely designs into something too small.
