thanks for the rolling encouragement! it's exciting to see it coming along, even this early. it's all cut out and i've begun sewing the half hexes and pressing. i need to improvise a design wall so i can get a better look at them together.
someone mentioned fabric amount. as i understood it, it depends on how big the repeat in the fabric is. mine was about 24 inches. in order to get the 6 repeats needed for the hexagons, i used 4 yards, saving a yard of the original for borders/maybe a fussy cut applique. split in half lengthwise, that was 12 repeats. each stack of 6 yielded 4 3.5" strips with 8 triangles. this will make 96 hexes total...i anticipate a 9x10 block top to be around 54"x60" before any borders are added.
hope that makes sense. i haven't even seen the OBW book...everything i have gathered about this quilt is from the tutorial here! I'd hope that anyone wanting to make one wouldn't just take my word for it!! Lol
