whatever you take, just cut it all out before you go so you don't have to hassle with quite so many things.... I have one of these

small cases ...inside is a rotary cutter, a 1" x 6" ruler, mech. pencil, thimble, needle case, marking pencil, ballpoint, seam ripper, and bobbins with beige, white and black thread on them...i have a 4 x 6 small cutting mat and with that and the little case, i can do almost anything by hand... just fill plenty of bobbins and you're all set...
