Rural01, The finished block size(in the quilt)will be 12" but when you make it it is 121/2" so you'll have a 1/4" seam allowance on each side to attach it to the next block. So while you're making the block it should end up at 12 1/2".
I print the patterns but don't really pay attention to the exact measurement of the 1" test block

If each piece is 1/16" off, which they will be if the test block is not exactlly 1", it will make a huge difference by the time all the pieces are assembled. Experiment with the scaling on your printer or photocopier until it prints correctly. For example, if it is 1/16" too large, then try printing at 98% for example, until you find the magic number.
