when seaming 2 lengths (or widths, if you prefer the seams to be sideways), 1. rip selvedges, 2. cut in proper length (ask your quilter how much extra to allow), 3. lay 2 pcs RS to RS... smooth to lay perfectly flat....pin several pcs to hold in position on BOTH sides.... now seam both sides.... 4. snip the center of ONE pc and tear up the center Now you have a wide center panel, 2 narrow panels, and they are matched perfectly down their seams, so no 'crawling' into a parallelogram... this is my fave ever since i learned it a couple of years ago from another forum...
