the reason it (and sid) is hard is that you don't have the same control as when you're working close to the needle. also, here, there's nothing under the fabric to stabilize it, so the fabric kind of bounces up and down. keeping event lines is harder until you get a feel for it. i would start on simpler quilts without curves.
