Question about batting and recycling
So, I'm a newbie and I have a question about batting and recycling. I have an old wool sweater that falls to my mid thigh. I LOVED that sweater so much I wore it til the elbows wore out! Now my question about batting is, can I cut up the remains of my old wool sweater and use it with other batting to make myself a quilt? There isn't enough of the sweater to be enough batting for a lap quilt so I would have to mix batting. Is that a completely nutty idea? Too advanced for a newbie? I have no idea how mixing batting works or if it's not even recommended due to problems with sewing/construction. I absolutely adored that sweater and would love to put it in a quilt so it could continue to keep me warm! Any thoughts, recommendations etc would be greatly appreciated.
