Hour Glass Block--for finished 8.5 size, what should my starting square size be??
I've been searching to find this out and can't find a reference anywhere. Anyway, I need to end up with a block 8.5 inches in size. I will be making an hourglass out of 2 fabrics and will place the fabrics together correct sides together and sew diagonally on each side of the diagonal line then cut and match the opposite pieces together to form the hourglass. What size do I need to cut my 2 squares to arrive at a 8.5 hourglass--I always like to have about 1/4 inch to trim to make a perfectly sized block.
