Southern California has always commanded higher prices for antiques than most of the rest of the US. I've known folks that would travel and buy and head to San Diego or LA to resell it. Back in the early 80's, my brother and his family paid for an entire 2 week vacation by doing just that...bought a bunch of antiques in Colorado, then went home and sold them for more than what the trip and the antiques cost...put a nice chunk of change in the bank.
