Hmmmm.... I might have to try cane syrup myself next year. Here in Florida, it's fairly easy to find. and our supermarkets here carry Argo syrup, which is a blend of cane and corn syrups. It's not quite as strong a molasses flavor.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one still making fruitcake!
