Technically, the word "vintage" should be followed by a year or decade... as in "Vintage 1982" (I believe the term started with wine and vinyards, dunno for sure!)

I would think tho, the term has morphed into meaning that something is "older"....I'd say that to me, when referring to sewing machines would mean before 1970...but not quite antique.
