Thank you all for the nice comments! Eases the "pain and stress memories" of making it, if you know what I mean. I had mailed the quilt in a milkbone box (only one I had that would fit) and when he called me to let me know he received it he said "Grandma, you make good dog cookies!" And that he loved, loved, loved etc it! He just turned 7. (Kleenex moment)

The paw prints were from The Border Workbook and the houses from Raining Cats and Dogs, both by Janet Kime. (Did not realize she did both books til I looked it up to make this comment). The fire hydrants were p/p from the Quiltmaker magazine Sept/Oct '00 issue.
The panel was Pound Hounds. The backing was flannel with paw prints, dog bones and "bow wow" written on it.
