It worked! I had to adjust the foot so it could have more room, and then adjust my tension. I still used basting spray so that the strip I'd just sewn on would stay in place when I sewed the next strip down on top of it. My sister-in-law already had the backing and batting spray basted together, so I loaded them together on the backing rail. I would definitely do it again, rather than wrestle the whole thing through my regular machine. It is a very heavy blanket! My sis-in-law is thrilled with the end result and says it must have special sleepy powers because when she cuddles under it, she can't help dozing off!
