If you are using a picture than it will need to be printed on the special photo transfer fabric. You can get that at your local quilt shop. Have you seen the very cute animals made from children's hand prints. Those would be very cute for blocks with their name printed underneath. I've see a hand horse, cow, pig, sheep and my favourite, a turkey for Thankgiving. I think there is a book available that shows the pictures and how to do them. Good luck on your adventure.
