I think what it needs is depth/dimension. The stone is as large as the pallbearers. You might want to consider having the grave open. Perhaps a dove or flag flying in the background or maybe the outline of some mourners (I am thinking shadow outlines like they did of us in grade school, not figures of real people)so that he is not so alone.
I think you are right about the depth preception. And, I like the idea of the mourners. I thought about a church and a hearse. But, I don't think I am smart enough to pull those things off. I think I have a long way to go. Thanks for your input.
