I'm infamous for trying something way over my head. I don't go for the easy patterns, I have to tackle designing my own based on the person receiving, or simply what I think will go well with the fabrics I love. Challenge yourself and chances are you will get more satisfaction out of doing it. If it all comes together, then you certainly aren't in over your head. Take breaks and do other projects in between and what you want to do with this pattern will make sense and flow while you are putting it together. Keep going with this one, it will turn out great! The colors are wonderful!
