Just going by the description, does it look anything like the model 15 "clones"? Miriam started a picture thread for them:
Will the real 15 clone please stand up. They are machines made in Japan after WWII where the design is based on the Singer 15. Excellent machines, difficult to date unless you have an original bill of sale or something like that.
