Janice the crowding issue is a big problem. The bigger the harp space of your long arm, the further it will sit out from the wall! You end up with a sewing machine that literally takes up 1/2 of your sewing room and one whole wall! I have to remind myself all the time that I really need to keep my long arm because I generally do at least queen sized quilts! I would love to get rid of it just to get my whole room back, but that would not be smart unless I just quit doing the really large quilts!
