I dont know where I got my machine rolls- probably thrift store. but I think they are $3 for like a 6 or 8 pack of rolls that will last a LOOOOOOOOONG time..

you sew your little pieces , but big enough to cover the machine tape, you keep sewing right side to right side like making piano keys but made out of scraps.. I do not tear off the tape from the roll. I use my cone spool to hold the [paper roll from the backside of my machine and pull as I need it until im done then i rip the end.. cut off the fabric that hangs over the edge of the paper- use a 3 inch ruler and there you have it- one continuous strip 3 inch strip/roll made from scraps.
