I've made several of queen size quilts with this method and I wouldn't use anything on the corduroy side and flannel at the most on the cotton side. I made one quilt with flannel on the back and front columns and it seemed really heavy to me. My next one I used flannel on the back column and muslin on front and that worked out really well. I really enjoyed doing quilts this way especially when money is tight and I send my quilts to a LA
