I wanted to mention that the girl in the last picture with the black and flowery quilt. Her grandmother actually wanted a different one, but SHE wanted this one, so her grandmother let her have her choice. (I kinda agreed with grandma, but she was determined to let the girl choose). So, it's "different strokes for different folks", including patterns and fabrics! I thought the fabric a bit garish and didn't want to work with it long so I made huge 12" squares and sewed them together with generous borders. It made it really, really fast to put together. It also meant I didn't actually have to look at the fabric that I thought was ugly for very long.

(The fabric was given to me. I have to admit that it grows on you after a while, but really, ...it wasn't my preference in either fabric, or colors or design).
