verizon makes a prepaid cellphone that does almost nothing except keep a handy memory dial. you have to buy extra apps to make it do anything fancy-schmancy. i just charge it up, and use it to make and receive. i pop in $100 each year (you can pay per month or quarter if you'd rather) and the phone and charger cost about $15 at radio shack. (actually, it does a few extra things, but i don't even use them.)
Ditto - the first thing I had them do was disconnect the texting feature. Why should I pay to have the local pizza store text me with their latest deal on a pizza I have no intention of buying?
