I have all my fabric wrapped around acid free hard "plastic" (it isnot real plastic, but made of a composition that looks & acts like plastic) Anyway, I type the name of manufacturer, the date purchased, the amount on the bolt & other pertinent info on a paper & tape it to the bottom right of the bolt. I completely cover the paper with tape. Whenever I use anything off that bolt, I make a notation of the current amount now on the bolt. I do have to pull out the bolt & lift up the fabric to see the inf, but I didn't want anything taped to the fabric. It works for me. Good luck & keep on building your stash.
