Is your machine electronic ? If so, check the utilty menu on your machine for an option to change the presser foot setting. I have this option on my machine, yet I swear it is not mentioned in the 'handbook' or 'user guide' that came with my machine .
This happened to me, be sure you are using the darning foot that came with your machine, I have three machines and just grab a darning foot out of the tray to use, wrong one , some machines are seet lower than others and cannot use a ganeric foot, after I put the darning foot that came with the machine it did FMQ fine and every thing moves easily!
