Default Too Excited From Texas

I am recently retired and am filling my spare time with learning to quilt. I started a quilt 30 years ago and finished it just a year ago. It was not perfect but it was mine and I thought it was great until my mother got a closer look at it. I did the top fine, by hand, but when I put it all together it has many places where it does not lay flat.

My mom was in the hospital for several weeks this past spring, so I bought fabric and began a new quilt top. It was great. Much easier than the first one that I had made and I did get it together better than the first.

The third one is about 3/4 finshed and it is coming together nicely. I am definitely learning as I go. My problem is I let patterns intimindate me. If it looks like it has too many pieces I won't even attempt it. I need some not to hard pattern to do that won't scare me. Any suggestions???
