I just got one for myself for Christmas (I found a good deal on ebay, where someone had received one as a duplicate Christmas gift, so it was still new in the box) and I recently started using it, and it works awesome!!! I hate cutting stuff out (especially intricate designs), and this does a great job, and saves a ton of time. I don't have the hands-free setup (which you can buy seperately), but I've found that if you make sure that the piece of fabric that you're cutting a shape out of is big enough so that the base of the Slice F. covers it (or at least the majority of it), the fabric won't shift around while you're trying to cut something out. The basic shapes design card that comes with the machine has a lot of great shapes on it, and I just bought the Secret Garden design card by Sandi Henderson (also got a good deal on this on ebay, new in box; if you couldn't already tell, I like to find good deals
ha ha!) The Secret Garden design card allows for multiple pieces of one design to be cut out, so that a person can change the color of the various pieces (for example, a flower can have different-colored parts, which allows for the creation of shadow and dimention....fabulous!), and it also allows for various combinations of the parts of different designs (I'm thinking of making a 'meadow scene' quilt, with a whole mix of flower combinations). For the money, it seems like the design cards offer a lot of options for the cost (which I considered first and foremost, because I had also thought of buying the Accuquilt Go!, but in reality, I make so many different types of quilts, and I can't afford all the die sets that I would need to make all those different types of quilts, besides the fact that I really wanted something specifically for making applique easier and faster). Also, I've been using regular weight (805) Wonder-Under fusible web on my fabric when cutting out my shapes, and haven't had any problems (thought I'd give that a try, since I didn't want to have to pay more for the fusible web specifically sold for the Slice F.).
I should mention that when I first started using the Slice F., it wasn't working quite right, and I noticed that the part of the machine that holds the blade was crooked (inside the housing of the machine), so I contacted the company, and they were very friendly and helpful. Because I bought it from a third party (& not from an actual dealer), they said that it no longer had a warranty, but they said that they would give me all the technical support that I needed to make sure that it would work right. They were able to diagnose what the problem was over the phone (I just had to unscrew something and fix a piece that had shifted out of place (I'm guessing it didn't get assembled right at the factory, since it came out of the box that way), and that fixed the problem! Now it works perfectly, and I already feel like it's worth it's weight in gold
