A friend of mine brought (in person) a top to be quilted that she had put a lot of time/energy/money into. She discussed it with the LAQ & left written instructions. Imagine her reaction when she got her very dark quilt back & the wide black border was quilted in white thread! She's still sick about it. I don't mean to be discouraging, it's just that dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's is worth the trouble to get the results you want.Of course there was no way the LAQ was going to take all the white stitching out of the borders, so my friend felt "stuck."
But this is a cautionary tale. Once I find a dependable LAQ, I hang onto her/him tighter than a family member. If you find a gifted one, I always send a written note, & sometimes, a gift card to the local shop that pointed me in her direction! Good luck!
