Modified 301 feet still aren't great walking feet. None of the 301 walking feet available (modified or not!!) have narrow feed dogs. So....the feed dogs are too wide and don't align with the machine feed dogs. Will it work? Yes, but not as engineered. Walking feet are supposed to have upper feed dogs and lower feed dogs that work together to feed fabric through the machine equally distributing the pull of the fabric. This doesn't and can't happen when the upper and lower feed dogs don't meet properly.
Nancy, you can buy slant shank 1/4" feet and FMQ feet if you don't already own them. But, the guide is right there on the plate so you can also just use a seam guide, moleskin etc.
