quilting/embroidery but I know I will still use this little brother. It likes all threads, whereas the singer confident quilter I got as a gift is very touchy about thread and is sitting in its box!
I bought the Brother CS6000i as my 'starter', too. I wasn't sure I'd like quilting (I do!) and it was an inexpensive way to get started. I now have the Janome 7700 and I love it, but I will keep the Brother. It is light and easy to take to classes and was a perfect way for me to get started. You said you don't have a machine now but do you even sew? It's hard to tell from your post ... so make sure you really like this before you sink a lot of money into it. Good luck!!
