That is exactly what is wrong. You might have to pound the fabric into submission or bear the ripples. I think this is a really neat tablerunner. Are you using a bias binding? Sometimes a straight cut binding will also do the same thing. Just finish and enjoy!

I tried that too, it still ripples. It just seems that there is too much fabric in the corners.
