Default Tank's welcome quilt

My nephew and his wife had their second little bundle of joy arrive mid-January. There was quite a bit of trouble at the beginning of the pregnancy, and my brother (the baby's grandad) passed away in October, didn't get to hold him. But all is well with the new little guy - he's a compact fella - they nicknamed him 'Tank'. Goes along with his big brother's nickname 'Spike'. I think they're doing the nicknames so they can refer to their little people on Facebook but not give away everything about them.

The mom (she is such a sweetheart) has decorated his room with owls, so when I found this owl fabric, knew where it was destined to end up. I truly was aiming for a baby quilt size, but it grew and grew and it's at least twin size. So I think I'll also do a crib quilt.

I quilted his name and birthdate into one of the plain squares, his nickname into another. There are a variety of designs in the squares - owls, trains, farm animals.
