I kept mine in plastic becasue of wet basement. Now all waterproofed and in the works too.
Had it rewired with all new wiring too and got in some cabinets. Still work in progress. Like you said takes a lot of time.
Happiness is better than drugs! Won't be long till it is complete, and you can fully enjoy.
