Did you try putting your slide plate on from the needle side? Some slide plates go on from the needle side and not from the left toward the bed - but from the needle side toward the outside.

That's very true....my 66 and the 99 both go on from the needle side. Took me 15 tries the other way to figure out that was not going to work!! LOL
