Hi Brenda,The pattern was from "Magic Quilts by the Slice", by Bethany Reynolds. I changed the size, and added the pinwheels myself. In my opinion, the best type of fabric to use is one with larger, clear cut flowers and/or other shapes, with a contrasting black or white background. The more varied the colors and sharper the contrast, the more your blocks will stand out. I've tried it with smaller pattern repeats and less contrast and color, and the effect just isn't the same. It's kind of a fussy process stacking and cutting it all, but getting to see how each block looks when you lay it out is worth it all! If you look at the quilt album on my profile, there's one I did in white which kind of shows the opposite contrasting effect.
