I think what looks like sashing between the cuts on the 2nd one may be the shadow from the seam allowances on the back of the quilt top. The photo must have been taken with the sun behind it. I agree with you, they are both pretty patterns.
No, I don't think it is a shadow. It does look like some kind of double stitching or ribbon or something....can't seem to figure that out. Do you know how to get in touch withthis person? looks so interesting.
