Default reversible table runner - Jan/Feb 2012

Last year I made reversible runners for my secret pal from church. Gave them to her every other month. I can't do that this year because everyone would know it was me so... I'm making them anyway and will give them to her for our revealing gift in December. These really show me how I've progressed. I've been quilting less than 2 years and the ones I started with last January were definately the work of a baby quilter. Now that I'm a toddler I can really see the difference!

Snowmen: pattern was one I found on here, but you don't really need a pattern. Fabrics were from Walmart that I bought in January of 2011 for next to nothing. This year they didn't have any seasonal fabric that I could find.

Hearts: I LOVE this pattern! It's from a Moda bakeshop pattern. Fabrics were from a shop hop. I picked up fat quarters from every shop and used them on this runner. The background is a Moda from my LQS. I always pull the backing over for the binding so have to be sure it will go with each side. My secret pal's kitchen has reds and yellows so I'm going to make sure that each runner has a hint of those colors in it - the red anyway. I adapted the pattern to FQs instead of a layer cake.

The Moda pattern makes a much larger runner than this one - I had already made the snowmen side so had to adjust the hearts to fit.

I usually make runners reversible, but usually make one side pieced and the other side solid. When you piece both sides it makes the quilting a bit of a problem. I just used diagonals on this one - didn't try to make it specific to each side. I've made one according to the pattern - when I quilt it I'll echo the heart shapes.
