I had a cat that loved cheese and a dog who loved it too, but only if the cheese was on a ritz cracker. She would be quite insulted if you offered her cheese without a ritz cracker. Another dog, a Black Lab would chase ya down for stuffed olives only to suck the piminto out and spit out the olive. Green olives and pickeled beets were the only thing that Lab turned his nose up on.
