I would have considered taking a picture of the damaged area and a picture of the dog, combining the pictures and printing it on some fabric sheets and patching the hole with it.
Would be a great reminder of times past, and a conversation piece.
Wish I had thought about this solution when I had no matching fabric for repair work. I will definitely put it in my memory bank. Great topic to share, Kara, and what a good patching job you did. We do love our pets so expect many of us will face this problem in the future.
