Great job on the fix! My son's one dog has her own "quilt" - store bought. As the seams wear out and let go I have a chance to practice my applique. Son keeps saying "it's for a dog, don't be so fussy." I keep telling him I want the practice. He doesn't get it but the dog sits and waits patiently for me to finish.
