I had a commission to make a wallhanging from a topper that was made 20 years ago. She had done very well on the quilting blocks and pieced them together, but never finished it into a quilt. As a newbie, and still practicing (finally found a longarm I could afford in October 2011) I charged accordingly. I gave an excellent deal for her and practice time for me. I figured a simple meander and all would be good. When we met for me to pickup the topper, things changed. This top needed more. Okay, stippling in the white areas, maybe stenciling in the sashing/border? This is how it came to be in the pics below. I hope I did it justice. She was very pleased and presented it to her husband of 20 years on Valentine's Day 2012. So pleased in fact, she's called me back and now wants a t-shirt lap quilt for a young relative. No problem. After having done two king size t-shirt quilts (42 blocks in each!
) for another customer for Christmas 2011, this will be a piece of cake. Here's the pics of getting it loaded on the quilting machine, and after quilting and the label I made to top it off. Enjoy!
