Mary - look at the greenfairyquilts.blogspot for machine quilting inspiration and go for it!!! I am going to QAYG by hand. Handquilting gives a much softer finish - although I have pieced most of these blocks by machine so far so it shouldn't matter that much. Hand quilting will take much longer - on the other hand you could most assuredly quilt one block each night watching TV [can't do that by machine - not with your feet up anyway.]

just giving tips on why and why not... you will be finished much faster by machine - particularly if your blocks are totally finished. Do it by machine girl and start on the next project!!! so many possibilities [patterns, etc] and not nearly enough time... at last count I had 31ufos
