My dd and sil have taken custody of a 2 month old baby girl. It is a kinship placement (they were chosen by the baby's mom). The little sweetie was born addicted to methadone and cocaine. The plan is for her to be reunited with her mom in treatment about the end of the month. In the meantime, we are all over the moon for her! I now know that I was born to be a Nana! Here is our little sweetie.
my brother and sil have adopted 3 children through the state born from a drug addicted mother. their eldest son is going on 11 (they adopted him at 6mos old) and the twins are 4 yr old soon to be 5 (adopted at 2 yrs old). they are happy and well adjusted children now and their futures are bright.
there are however some residual effects on these children that are born from drug addicted moms. if placed with loving nurturing families, these children can have a chance to make it. i do hope the mother can successfully overcome her addictions to give this beautiful child the home life she deserves.
