I don't get what the difference is -- too much a beginner still.

I just wanted to let you know that you can do this in Windows Paint. Just hit Print Screen and paste this into Paint. Select just the block, select File --> New, paste just the block into that.

You can use the line tool to change the lines. Use the eraser as needed. (There's also an Edit __> Undo option.) To color in sections, select the color from the palette in lower left and use the paint bucket to apply it.

Once you have the block the way you want it, just copy/paste all over the screen to make the quilt look. Use the Image menu's Flip/Rotate to turn it.
